My suggestions re Post article on Maryland Health Connection

The Washington Post had two articles today on the problems with the Maryland Health Connection (MHC)

Tech problems trip up Md.’s health exchange

Brown accused of ‘dropping the ball’ on health care in Md. as he appears with football players

Here are my suggestions in response to these articles

o Provide advice to volunteers as to how to assist possible enrollees on the best ways to establish accounts, etc
o As indicated on my blog entry:  http://tinyurl.com/Hraemanuel Zeke Emanuel in Politico:  Who needs Healthcare.gov.  Easy to use planfinder sites.  Steve Morse's website should be made available to the public more broadly so folks can find out which is the best plans for them to enroll in. Morse's site provides info and plan comparisons on premiums, subsidies, plan quality ratings, plan doctors, a
o Keep the public informed as to system status and potential timeframes for fixes
o Consider making more use of the 211 system just announced.
o Create more partnerships between volunteer organizations and the Maryland Health Connection.  Establish an arrangement so that supporting organizations can work together with MHC.
o I have created a number of resources that MHC can use

Given that insurers will soon be able to sign folks directly, it is critical that folks know about morse's site so they can compare plans. Please spread the word.

  2. Tony, thank you for continuing to put your head down and work through each glitch in this tortuous long process!! Because you and others do, Maryland leads the nation in ACA implementation, no matter what understandable stumbles it has at the beginning of something this big...I have every confidence that the citizens lucky enough to live in MD will get through this enrollment period just fine and will gain the security and peace of mind of having good health insurance at a reasonable cost.

  3. Tony,

Your suggestions are all good. Is anyone in a key MD position listening to you about Steve Morse's website? If so, why haven't they adapted it?

Is MD talking to States like KY, CT, Cal and NY who have been more successful than it?

Not that I matters now, but the person who you gave the info about my offer for helping in ACA training never got back to me. It would seem out of courtesy, he should have done so, even if he felt that it was not needed.
